Give for Gorillas Cellphone Challenge Results Announced

Thank you, Oklahoma City! The Give for Gorillas Cellphone Challenge saw 52 donations in November for a grand total of 154 devices and accessories given in 2018! What a great success and even greater environmental impact. All of the electronics donated to the Zoo will be disposed of following strict environmental guidelines by our partners at the ECO-CELL Recycling Program, which will then use the resulting parts to refurbish new phones to be sold in developing countries. Cupcakes for conservation: Pinkitzel & OKC Zoo partner in honor of newborn gorilla

Through the end of January, Pinkitzel Candy & Cupcakes is donating 50 cents for each Neapolitan cupcake sold to the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden’s Round Up for Conservation initiative. The partnership developed after the Zoo contacted Pinkitzel to produce a special batch of cupcakes for an on-air newborn gorilla gender reveal. Founded on the ground-breaking research of one woman in 1967, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (DFGFI) celebrates its 50 th anniversary this year. Dian Fossey gained worldwide recognition for her work to protect and study mountain gorillas in Rwanda, Africa, before her untimely death.
