Are you inspired by nature and want to make impact on the environment while having fun? The Zoo welcomes volunteers to join our family in answering the ‘call of the wild’! Our newly redesigned volunteer programs have more opportunities, flexibility, and FUN than ever before.
In 2017, the Zoo benefited from more than 30,366 hours of service from dedicated volunteers. These volunteers inspired our guests to learn about wildlife, planted thousands of tulips, distributed more than 240,000 pieces of candy at Haunt the Zoo, helped care for our animals, and much more. With the Zoo’s increased focus on conservation, exciting new events, and the upcoming opening of Sanctuary Asia, we are expanding our volunteer opportunities for 2018.
Our adult volunteer program provides a variety of opportunities to assist with special events, plant care, painting, data entry, helping Zoo guests, and much more. These volunteers can also apply to become husbandry aides to help our animal care staff.
Our education volunteer program provides opportunities to share a love of animals by leading educational activities to share information about conservation issues impacting our animals. We’re especially seeking volunteers in our Sanctuary Asia exhibit that will open this summer.
Special Event Volunteers
Our special event volunteer program provides opportunities to assist with our events throughout the year.
Junior Curator (JC) Teen Volunteer Program
Our JC program provides teens an opportunity to gain practical job and life skills while working side by side with our Zoo staff and learning about how the Zoo operates.
College Internship Program
Our college internship program provides collegiate students with hands-on learning experiences in the fields of animal care, horticulture, conservation education, or museum studies.
Group/Corporate Volunteer Program
We welcomes groups to help with special projects, providing a fun team building experience while making a difference for our animals and guests.
Through each of our programs, volunteers enjoy a variety of special benefits, develop lifelong memories, and help make the world a better place for our wildlife. For more information about our programs or to apply, click here.
