OKC ZOO'S MALE CLOUDED LEOPARD SCHEDULED FOR WELLNESS EXAM

Editor’s Note: To ensure viewing of the beginning of the exam, interested media should check in at the Zoo’s Guest Relations office by 9:45 a.m. to convoy to the Joan Kirkpatrick Animal Hospital. The Zoo will be sharing via Facebook Live.

WHAT:              The Oklahoma City Zoo’s veterinary care team will perform a routine health exam, on Luke, a 14-year-old male Clouded leopard. Luke arrived at the OKC Zoo in 2011 from the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

WHERE:           The exam will take place at the Zoo’s Joan Kirkpatrick Animal Hospital where guests are welcome to watch from the public viewing windows at the hospital. Can’t make it in person? Watch live on the Zoo’s Facebook page (@okczoo) and feel free to ask Luke’s care team questions throughout the exam.

WHEN:             Thursday, March 1, 2018, beginning at approximately 10 a.m. The exam should take approximately two hours.

DETAILS:          From cockroaches to big cats, all of the Zoo’s animals are examined routinely. Luke’s preventative care exam will include vaccinations, blood draws and a dental assessment. Luke will be anesthetized shortly before arriving at the hospital and asleep throughout the exam.

The Zoo’s veterinary team and animal caretakers are dedicated to providing superior health care for the animals entrusted to them. This includes managing a preventative care program as well as treating illnesses and handling emergency cases as they arise.
