Time to ensure our “king of the jungle” is feline fit and healthy as can be! The Oklahoma City Zoo’s veterinary care team will perform a routine health exam, on Hubert, a 7 year-old male African lion. Hubert arrived at the OKC Zoo in 2012 from the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Thursday, January 10, 2018, beginning at approximately 10 a.m. The exam will take approximately two hours.
The exam will take place at the Zoo’s Joan Kirkpatrick Animal Hospital, where guests are welcome to watch from the public viewing windows at the hospital. Can’t make it in person? Watch live on the Zoo’s Facebook page (@okczoo) and take the opportunity to ask the Zoo’s veterinarian questions throughout the exam.
Hubert’s exam will include blood draws, a dental assessment, X-rays and more. He will be anesthetized shortly before arriving at the hospital and asleep throughout the exam.
The Zoo’s veterinary team and animal caretakers are dedicated to providing superior health care for the animals entrusted to them. This includes managing a preventative care program as well as treating illnesses and handling emergency cases as they arise.
