OKC ZOO SPRING/SUMMER ATTRACTION SCHEDULE
Add these popular attractions to your Oklahoma City Zoo “must do” list and there’s no limit to the fun you’ll have! All Zoo rides and attractions are operational weather permitting. The following schedules can be made and all are subject to change without notice.
Centennial Choo Choo: Rides offered daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $3 per person. Children two and under free.
Children’s Zoo Barn: Guests with young children will go wild for this spacious oasis where little ones can connect with animals and nature. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free to experience.
Elephant Express Tram: Enjoy the view as you tour the Zoo! Rides offered daily 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with four stops in the park. All day bracelets are $6 per person. Children two and under free.
Endangered Species Carousel: Take a spin! Open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $3 per person.
Explorikeet Feedings (Children’s Zoo): Flock to the fun! Guests have the unique opportunity to feed and interact with our colorful lorikeets. $3 per person to feed. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This experience closes for a “bird break” from 1-1:30 p.m.
Giraffe Feeding Platform: Come face-to-face with our gentle giants–Ellie, Julu and Demetri! Daily feeding opportunities from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $5 per person.
Sea Lion Presentations: Sea lion presentations provide “fin”tastic fun for all ages! Daily presentations at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Sea Lion Presentation Stadium. Cost is $4 per person. Children two and under are free.
Stingray Bay: Be in awe as the Zoo’s majestic stingrays glide and slide past your fingertips! Cost is $3 per person with paid Zoo admission. Children two and under are free. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
ONGOING: OKC ZOO’S WILD ENCOUNTERS NOW INCLUDE DISCOUNT ADMISSION OPTION
The Oklahoma City Zoo provides you with an exclusive peek at what happens behind the Zoo scene with Wild Encounters! Wild Encounters are unique experiences that let you see some of your favorite Zoo animals in up-close ways like never before. Follow our expert animal keepers backstage to learn more about the animal’s unique personalities, stories. Wild Encounters are available daily and each experience comes with a souvenir lanyard! Wild Encounters are also a great gift idea for any occasion. Participants must be 6 years of age or older. Prices range from $41–$71 per person depending on the encounter, Zoo admission bundle package options available. ZOOfriends’ members receive $11 discount per encounter. NOW–MONDAY, MARCH 25: OKC Zoo & Dr Pepper Vending Machine Art Contest
The Oklahoma City Zoo invites students, K-12, to spread their creative wings and go wild for pollinator conservation with the 15th annual Dr Pepper Vending Machine Art Contest for a chance to win wild prizes. This year’s theme, “A Future for Pollinators”, challenges contestants to share their creativity and love of nature to show a future safe for butterflies, bees and other species that perform the critical role of pollinating plants in nature. Students may enter through their school, home school, civic group (e.g. Scouts), or on their own. Contest guidelines and entry forms are available at www.okczoo.org/drpeppercontest. Entries become property of the OKC Zoo and must be postmarked by Monday, March 25, 2019. The winning designs will be unveiled during the Zoo’s Earth Day celebration, Party for the Planet, on Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m.
Each of the contest’s two grand prize winners will receive a $300 gift card to a store at OKC Outlets and their design will become the cover of a Dr Pepper machine at the Zoo for an entire year to be admired by an estimated one million guests. Winners from all award categories will receive a certificate and have their designs on display at the OKC Zoo and OKC Outlets. NOW–FRIDAY, MARCH 15: SPRING PICNIC DISCOUNT AT THE OKC ZOO

FRIDAY, MARCH 8: EYE SPY SAFARI PRESENTED BY DEAN MCGEE EYE INSTITUTE
See more of the Oklahoma City Zoo as you embark on the new Eye Spy Safari presented by Dean McGee Eye Institute. This fun, interactive safari is ideal for kids 11-and-under who will learn about the OKC Zoo’s extraordinary animals and the challenges threatening their wild counterparts as they explore the Zoo. Eye Spy goers will also learn how the Zoo is leading the way in local and global conservation efforts and what they can do to help. “Spot” all seven Eye Spy stations located throughout the Zoo and scratch off your card to reveal the secret word! Kids can return their completed cards to the Safari Gift Shop in the entry plaza to receive a prize. Eye Spy Safari cards are available at the Zoo’s Guest Services and ZOOfriends’ offices. Participation is free with Zoo admission.
FRIDAY, MARCH 8: OKC ZOO’s NEW “ASK A KEEPER”
Are you curious about wildlife and wild places? Well, ask and learn! Beginning Friday, March 1, the Oklahoma City Zoo is offering new daily opportunities for guests to engage with its animal keepers called “Ask A Keeper”. These free, informal chats, formerly known as Keeper Connections, provide a unique opportunity for guests to ask questions about the Zoo’s animal family and their counterparts in the wild from the experts themselves–our keepers. OKC Zoo keepers are everyday conservationists, dedicated to protecting and preserving our planet and the amazing animals we share it with. “Ask A Keeper” signage will be posted on grounds and the schedule includes the following animal areas:
10 a.m.: Wallaby (Children’s Zoo)
10:30 a.m.: Galapagos tortoise (Island Life)
11:30 a.m.: Big Rivers Aquarium (Oklahoma Trails)
1:30 p.m.: Great Escape
2 p.m.: Asian Elephant Presentation (Sanctuary Asia, elephant pavilion)
2:30 p.m.: Red Panda (Sanctuary Asia)
3 p.m.: Southern Cassowary (Sanctuary Asia)
FRIDAY, MARCH 8: CAMEL RIDES AT THE OKC ZOO
Camel rides are back at the Oklahoma City Zoo! This seasonal attraction returns and starting Friday, March 8, OKC Zoo guests can take their visit to new heights with a camel ride on one of three dromedary camels. The $6 tickets to ride may be purchased on-site at the camel ride area. Rides will take place from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends (weather permitting) and children under 6 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Other rules are posted at the habitat. Camel rides are not included in the Zoo-It-All or Ride-It-All packages.
THURSDAY, MARCH 14: SAFARI SOIREE TICKETS AVAILABLE
A safari under the stars awaits at the Oklahoma City Zoo’s premiere 21+ event, Safari Soirée hosted by the Oklahoma Zoological Society. Come celebrate and support the OKC Zoo’s conservation mission and help us ensure a fierce future for wildlife and habitats at the third annual Safari Soirée on Friday, April 26, 2019 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Experience an evening of delicious food, exotic drinks and unforgettable entertainment. General admission tickets include food, drinks, and access to live entertainment and cost $75 per person (while supplies last at this price point). MONDAY, MARCH 25 – SATURDAY, MARCH 30: OKLAHOMA STATE ARBOR WEEK
As an internationally accredited botanical garden, the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden, takes pride in growing an awareness and passion in botanical interests among its visitors. And that’s why, the OKC Zoo is proud to participate in a statewide Arbor Week celebration from March 25 through March 30. During this weeklong event, the OKC Zoo will host garden tours that highlight the Zoo’s historic post oak groves and champion trees, as well as tree planting demonstrations. These activities are free with regular Zoo admission. The Zoo will also hold a tree sale on Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day in the Zoo’s entry plaza.
TABLES NOW ON SALE FOR BRAINY BEASTS
Get in the game! Save the date for Brainy Beasts Trivia Night, a new 21-and-up event, hosted by Friends of ZOOtroop at the Oklahoma City Zoo on Thursday, April 11. Gather your teammates and prepare to test your trivia knowledge on all things animal related from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Zoo’s new Sanctuary Asia. Participants will have an opportunity to win wild prizes plus, local gifts and treats will be raffled off. Tables for Brainy Beasts Trivia Night go on sale Friday, March 1. Cost per table is $400 for eight people. Individual tickets are not available. Included in the price is an event T-shirt, food from local restaurants, beer and wine plus, a night of wild team trivia. Proceeds from this event support the operation and continued growth of the Oklahoma City Zoo and its conservation initiatives.
TICKETS ON SALE FOR WHINOS FOR RHINOS
Sip, sip hooray for rhino conservation! Tickets are on sale now for Whinos for Rhinos, the wildest wine-tasting event in town, returns Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Water’s Edge Winery, Oklahoma City. Join the OKC chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and enjoy four different wines from Water's Edge Winery, paired with delightful bites from your favorite local restaurants. Each guest will receive a souvenir wine glass painted by one of your favorite Zoo animals. Ticket prices are $35 in advance with wine glasses guaranteed. Walk-ins are welcome. THURSDAY, MARCH 7 AND FRIDAY, MARCH 8: HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMS
Enjoy experiences beyond the four walls of a traditional classroom with the OKC Zoo’s homeschool programs. Monthly classes focus on various animals and plants and includes animal encounters, zoo tours, and hands on activities. March’s program topic, invertebrates. Being spineless is not so bad, especially for these invertebrates that make up more than 90% of the animals in the world! Fly, crawl, or swim on over as we explore the habitats of these spineless wonders or collect data in the field. SATURDAY, MARCH 9: VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES OPEN HOUSE
The Oklahoma City Zoo is dedicated to being Oklahoma’s premier destination connecting people to the world’s vanishing wildlife and wild places, but we cannot fulfil this mission without our volunteers. The OKC Zoo’s volunteer program offers a variety of opportunities that are flexible, fun and involved in every aspect of the Zoo. Interested in learning more? Attend an informational open house on Saturday, March 9 from 1-2 p.m. at the Rosser Conservation Education Center, located at the east end of the Zoo’s parking lot.
THURSDAY, MARCH 14 AND THURSDAY, MARCH 21: CUB CLUBS
Enroll your little one in the OKC Zoo’s Cub Club programs. These monthly classes are geared to introduce youngsters, 2-5 years of age, to the natural world around them. On March 14 and 21, join us for “Monkey Madness” and come swing through the trees to learn what it’s like in a day of the life of a monkey through lessons, crafts and a guided Zoo tour. MONDAY, MARCH 18 – MARCH 22: SPRING BREAK CAMPS
Oklahoma City Zoo’s spring break camps will introduce your child to a new world of wonder, fun and excitement. Campers will explore the legends and lore behind some of nature’s animals and plants with the week’s theme, “Mysteries of Mythical Creatures”. DailySnacks provided, but campers must bring their lunch. Ages 4-11 welcome. Advanced registration and payment required. All campers are required to bring a copy of their immunizations.
