PORTION OF ZOO LAKE PARK CLOSED AS CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON GIRL SCOUTS WESTERN OKLAHOMA’S NEW CAMP
July 23, 2019
The Oklahoma City Zoo’s newest neighbor, Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma, have started construction on their new STEM-focused camp, Camp Trivera. The new camp will be situated on 17-acres in the park located east of the OKC Zoo. During and after construction, local anglers can still fish OKC Zoo Lake in cooperation with the “Close to Home” fishing program but access will be limited to the lake’s entrance and east shoreline. The southern half of the park will be closed for construction. Camp Trivera is slated to open Fall 2020.
Camp Trivera will provide girls the opportunity to be comfortable in the outdoors–camping, hiking, kayaking–while also having indoor spaces for first time campers. There will also be opportunities for Girl Scouts Western Oklahoma to partner with the OKC Zoo and develop programs that incorporate real-world research, veterinary care, conservation and travel opportunities–local and international.
