Job Shadow Students

Find the Explorer in You

Are you a high school student interested in careers in zoos or aquariums? Gain a better understanding of the field by applying for a Job Shadow opportunity at the OKC Zoo!

The job shadowing program is only available Monday – Friday from September - November.
Job shadowing experiences are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are dependent on Zoo staff availability.

What will I do on a job shadow experience?
Every day at the Zoo is different, so each job shadow experience is unique! You will be assigned to a specific area for an entire day (8am-5pm) to experience the daily routine of the staff.

In Animal areas, you may be able to participate in tasks, such as helping prepare animal diets, assisting with exhibit cleaning, and preparing enrichment projects for the animals.
In the Horticulture department, you will learn about how the Zoo cares for the variety of plants within the Zoo and our greenhouses.
In the Conservation Education department, you will learn about how the Zoo uses our animal ambassadors and biofacts to share our love of nature with people of all ages.
