The Oklahoma City Zoological Park & Botanical Garden is a fully accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the American Association of Museums. The Lead Housekeeping Technician works closely with the Buildings and Grounds Manager in leading a team in the management of Building and Grounds duties. This includes but is not limited to: Assist Manger of Buildings and Grounds in maintaining inventory, scheduling, and overseeing team members, perform general cleaning and housekeeping inside building over an assigned area such as cleaning and sanitizing public restrooms, vacuuming and disinfecting floors, washing windows, dusting furniture, and emptying trash cans, assist guests with directions or questions and provide excellent Guest Service, guide assigned part time team members and volunteers throughout their day and ensure productivity, clean up after special events, run light machinery for designated area like floor scrubbers or floor waxing machines or minor building repairs, and perform minor maintenance repairs as needed.  This position includes collaborating with other zoo personnel in the presentation of guest experiences in order to support and model the Zoo’s mission, vision, and values. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(To perform the job successfully, an individual must have the following minimum qualifications.)

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience equivalent to two (2) years’ full time Housekeeping/Custodial Duties.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed in this job description.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma motor vehicle operator’s license and pass a Driver’s History check to operate Zoo vehicles.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
