OKC ZOO ANNOUNCES INTERACTIVE EASTER "EGGS-TRAVAGANZA"
April 03, 2020
The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden needs your help to make special Easter-themed enrichment items for its animals! The OKC Zoo is encouraging fans of all ages to get creative and share their egg decoration idea on social media with #MyOKCZooEgg. Entries may also be submitted via E-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. A template is being provided by the Zoo but is not required.
“We know most holiday activities, including Easter egg hunts, have been canceled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and this is a way the Zoo can help make the holiday special without encouraging people to leave home,” said Kimberly Leser, OKC Zoo behavioral husbandry and welfare manager. “This is a fun, family activity for Zoo fans that will also benefit the Zoo’s animals by providing enriching experiences for them.”
Animal caretakers will pick 10 entries and re-create the designs on Easter enrichment activities for the animals, including real eggs. All designs will become the property of the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden for publication, promotion and reproduction. Winners will be announced on the Zoo’s new digital series, “OKC Zoo @ Two” on Easter, Sunday, April 12, at 2 p.m. Entries must be submitted to the Zoo or posted online by Tuesday, April 7, at 5 p.m.
