OKC ZOO CELEBRATING JUNETEENTH WITH FREE GENERAL ADMISSION ON MONDAY, JUNE 21

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden is hosting a free day on Monday, June 21, offering complimentary Zoo admission for all guests in honor of Juneteenth, a new federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

“We are proud to celebrate Juneteenth with our fellow Oklahomans and welcome guests to come together in tribute of this historic holiday by visiting the Zoo,” said OKC Zoo’s Executive Director/CEO, Dwight Lawson. “Our hope is the Zoo provides a place of respite where individuals can reflect on this day of celebration immersed in nature, connecting with family, neighbors and friends.”

General Zoo admission is free for all guests on Monday, June 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the last entry at 4 p.m. Additional fees for Zoo rides and experiences such as DINO SAFARI still apply. The Zoo strongly encourages all guests ages 11 and older to wear a face mask when in indoor habitats and Zoo buildings.

Monday, June 21 is also World Giraffe Day and the Zoo is partnering with Bob Moore Subaru to participate in this worldwide event dedicated to raising awareness for giraffes. Enjoy free activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. including information stations, games for children 11 and under, photo opportunities, Facebook live chats and more. Giraffe lovers will also have the opportunity to see the Zoo’s giraffe herd including its newest addition, a male calf, born on June 3, to giraffe matriarch, Ellie.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is currently in its summer hours and open daily open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the last entry no later than 4 p.m. Located at the crossroads of I-44 and I-35, the OKC Zoo is a proud member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the American Alliance of Museums, Oklahoma City’s Adventure District and an Adventure Road partner. Regular admission is $12 for adults and $9 for children ages 3-11 and seniors ages 65 and over. Children two and under are admitted free.
