  • MEET ZOO ANIMALS AT WHOLE FOODS MARKET FOR COMMUNITY GIVING DAY

    It’s a double-your-fun, double-your-value kind of day! On Thursday, June 22, head to the Whole Foods Market (Western & 63rd Street) and join the Community Giving Day festivities when 5 percent of sales that day will be donated to the Zoo. Look for the Zoo crew outside to meet some Zoo animal ambassadors that will be excited to greet friendly fans. Giveaways available while supplies last. Then, shop inside and remember….the more you spend, the more money will be donated to the Zoo! It’s a win-win!

    Take a reading safari with the Zoo each Tuesday in June and July at 10 a.m.!  Kids 11 and under are invited to hear stories read by guest storytellers, meet a keeper and enjoy a snack courtesy of Braum’s—all on Grandma’s Porch in the Children’s Zoo. Each week’s session is themed around fun, age appropriate stories. Free with paid admission. (Please note: This season’s Wild Tuesdays Story Time Safari has changed from two sessions to only one session at 10 a.m.)

Botanical Garden tours featuring the Zoo’s 10,000-square-feet Water Conservation Garden are scheduled for the first Friday of each month from through October starting at 10 a.m. Garden tours will meet in the Global Plaza near the Guest Services office at 10 a.m. before proceeding on the tour. Additional 2017 First Friday Garden Tours are scheduled for July 7, August 4, September 1 and October 6.

    Tours are free with paid Zoo admission.

  • Sales Tax Appreciation Day

  • RARE—CREATURES OF THE PHOTO ARK

    NAT GEO PHOTO JOURNALIST, JOEL SARTORE, DEBUTS SCREENING OF NEW PBS SERIES “RARE—CREATURES OF THE PHOTO ARK”

     

    Whether you’re a nature lover, conservationist or photographer, Joel Sartore draws a wild mix of loyal fans who enjoy and appreciate his award-winning photography documenting every species at risk of extinction. He has traveled the world photographing these rare animals in zoos, nature preserves and the wild. Throughout RARE, scientist and naturalists reveal surprising and important information about why ensuring the future of these animals is so critical. The free preview screening of RARE—Creatures of the Photo Ark is from noon – 1:30 p.m. in the Zoo’s Education Center. Sartore will also be signing his new book from 2-2:30 p.m. in the Safari Gift Shop. Books will be available for sale. The screening is free to attend.

  • Bowling for Rhinos fundraiser

    Don’t strike out on your chance to enjoy the Zoo’s annual conservation fundraiser helping save wild rhinoceros populations with the roll of a bowling ball! The Zoo's chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers will host the 23rd annual Bowling for Rhinos (BFR) event on Saturday, July 22, at 6 p.m. at Oklahoma City’s Heritage Lanes (NW 122nd and N. Pennsylvania). Sign-in begins at 5 p.m. BFR is a family friendly, annual fundraiser supporting rhino conservation. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit rhino conservation in Asia and Africa. Ticket prices will vary, but will include shoe rental, three games of bowling, food, a T-shirt and exciting door prize opportunities. Spectator tickets will include a T-shirt and door prize opportunities only. Be watching for sign-up instructions through social media on Facebook and at www.okczoo.org.
