Enjoy experiences beyond the four walls of a traditional classroom by letting the Zoo be your fresh-air, nearby learning lab. Monthly classes include animal encounters, exhibit tours, and much more!

Taxonomy Series

Learn who’s who and what’s what at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden! Each month focuses on an animal (or plant) group and includes animal encounters, zoo tours, and hands on activities. Let the learning begin!

• Monthly September through April

• Ages: 4-5 yrs, 6-7 yrs, 8-12 yrs (Separate age groups)

• Cost per student: $10 (members), $12 (non-members)

• Only registered participants with one adult are allowed in class. However, adults are not required to stay.

• Children of different age groups, must be enrolled separately into proper age groups.

Our world is made up of different kinds of living things which are connected and dependent on each other. Put your skills to the test as we go on a scavenger hunt to find these unique animals in the Zoo.

MAMMALS

Whether they are walking on land or swimming in the sea, mammals live all around the world! Create different habitats for these warm blooded creatures as we learn more about their unique characteristics.

There is definitely more than meets the eye, with these real life transformers. Your student is sure to have a toad-ally fun learning experience as we compete with different frog species to see who the better jumper is, or practice frog calls to “attract a mate”.

FISH

Fish are well equipped to live in the water. Have your student join our school of fish as they create their own fish model to take home.
